In late 2014, aged 14, I co-founded Berkshire Tortoise Club. My aim was to promote and improve tortoise welfare standards in captivity through meetings and club events throughout the year. We launched in April of 2015 with an Open Day that attracted over 100 people.
In its first year I served as Chair, leading Committee meetings, organising events, communicating with the media and advertising. I built strong links with other tortoise welfare organisations across the UK and have gained the respect of key people within this field.
At our Open Day in 2018 we had over 200 people through the door and have gone from strength to strength as a non-profit organisation with a strong committee of volunteers.
